Imagine a reality TV show in the near future where the star is a clone of Jesus Christ made from DNA extracted from the Shroud of Turin. (Think Truman Show.) Jesus 2.0, or J2, goes on to cause both outrage and adulation. Religious zealots either love or hate the show, angry politicians worry about its influence on the nation, and members of the scientific community fear the implications of cloning a human being at all, let alone the Son of God. Throw in a bodyguard who is a former IRA operative, who despite his turbulent past is hired to protect J2. J2 grows up to become an angry teenager who runs away, renounces his religious heritage and forms a punk rock band. Episode 99 finds the intrepid trio reviewing and reflecting on Sean Murphy’s graphic novel, “Punk Rock Jesus.” To skip our cigar reviews and opening mishegas start at the 17:04 mark. Just know you’ll likely feel better about yourself, but you’ll miss the Gentile trying to figure out the joke that goes with the punchline, “No Ma’am that cat didn’t have a head.” Seriously, if anyone knows the joke please let us know so we can get Chris back to being semi-productive.
